Lynchburg Bacon

Bacon like you've never had it - soaked in Tennessee's pride and joy, then dredged in a sweet-savory flour mixture, and baked on the Traeger.

1 Poundcountry-style bacon
1 Tablespoon
1 CupTennessee whiskey, such as Jack Daniel's or apple juice
3/4 Cupall-purpose flour
1/3 Cupbrown sugar
1 Teaspoonfreshly ground black pepper

Steps

  • Step 1

    Separate the bacon slices and place them into a large resealable bag.

    • 1 Pound country-style bacon

  • Step 2

    Stir the Traeger Pork & Poultry Rub into the whiskey (or apple juice). Pour the whiskey over the bacon, massaging the bag to coat all the slices.

    Set aside for at least 30 minutes.

  • Step 4

    On a piece of wax paper, sift together the flour, brown sugar and black pepper. Transfer to a second resealable bag.

    • 3/4 Cup all-purpose flour

    • 1/3 Cup brown sugar

    • 1 Teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • Step 5

    Drain the bacon and add to the flour mixture a few slices at a time.

  • Step 6

    Shake the bag to coat each piece evenly, then arrange in a single layer on a baking pan.

  • Step 7

    When ready to cook, set Traeger temperature to 375°F and preheat with the lid closed for 15 minutes.

  • Step 8

    Bake the bacon until it is golden brown and crisp, about 20 to 25 minutes. Enjoy!
