Grilled Sweet Potato Planks

  • Step 1

    If you have the Traeger ModiFIRE® Sear Grate, place it on the left side of the grill ridged side up. Preheat the Traeger with the lid closed to 450°F; this will take at least 15 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Meanwhile, peel the sweet potatoes, then cut lengthwise into eighth wedges. Toss the wedges with the canola oil, salt, pepper, and onion powder until well coated.

    • 1 Tablespoon Canola oil

    • 1 Teaspoon kosher salt

    • 1 Teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    • 1/2 Teaspoon onion powder

  • Step 3

    Place the sweet potatoes directly on the Sear Grate or on the regular grill grates. Cook until nice sear marks appear on one side, 5 to 10 minutes.

  • Step 4

    Flip and cook until tender when pierced with a fork, another 10 to 15 minutes. The time will depend on your grill, the weather, and the thickness of the potatoes. Serve right away. Enjoy!
