This rich, tangy, tomato-y BBQ sauce gets a welcome kick from bourbon. Use it on ribs, with pulled pork, in meatloaf, and anywhere else you want to add deep, bold flavor.

1/2 | medium yellow onion, minced |
4 Clove | garlic, minced |
3/4 Cup | bourbon whiskey |
1/2 Teaspoon | freshly ground black pepper |
1 1/2 Teaspoon | kosher salt |
2 Cup | ketchup |
1/4 Cup | tomato paste |
1/3 Cup | apple cider vinegar |
1/4 Cup | Worcestershire sauce |
1/2 Cup | brown sugar |
1/2 Teaspoon | hot sauce |
Step 1
Preheat the Traeger with the lid closed to 350°F; this will take about 15 minutes.

Step 2
In a large skillet combine the onion, garlic, and whiskey. Simmer for 20 minutes on the Traeger or until onion is translucent.

Mix in the ground black pepper, salt, ketchup, tomato paste, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and hot pepper sauce.

Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat on the Traeger to 225˚F and simmer for 20 more minutes.
